Background

Don Hoang is an experienced operator and investor with 25+ years spanning private equity, venture capital, and high-growth companies. He has held executive roles at two of the world's most recognised technology companies — Uber and Revolut — and served on the Investment Committee at Atomico, one of Europe's leading venture and growth equity funds, where he helped raise and deploy a $1.24bn fund.

Based between London and San Francisco, Don works globally with operators scaling at speed — having been a founder-facing operator, an institutional investor, and an angel across every stage of the company lifecycle.

Revolut

At Revolut, Don served as VP of Global Business — one of the most senior operator roles at a company that became Europe's most valuable private startup. He oversaw growth, profitability, product, sales, partnerships, and capital markets across Revolut's global operations.

Joining as an early executive, Don helped shape Revolut's international expansion strategy and internal operating model through the period that saw the company reach a $75bn valuation.

Uber

At Uber, Don led the company's international rollout across 45 countries — one of the most ambitious geographic expansion programmes in technology history. He raised $3.5bn in growth capital, executed $4bn in M&A, and managed a P&L north of $100m.

Scaling Uber across 45 markets — navigating regulatory environments, building local teams, and holding strategic coherence across dozens of geographies — taught him what international expansion actually costs.

Investing

Don is a Sequoia Scout, identifying and backing high-potential startups worldwide. He also invests independently as an angel, with 50+ early-stage investments ranking in the top 5% of angels by performance (Cambridge Associates benchmark).

His investing focus sits at the intersection of AI, fintech, and companies with genuine international ambition. He brings particular value to founders navigating early internationalisation, regulatory complexity, or the transition from product-market fit to scaled operations.

Previously, Don was a Partner and Investment Committee member at Atomico ($1.24bn Fund) — one of Europe's leading technology investment firms — where he was responsible for deal origination, execution, and portfolio support.

Advisory

Don serves on the Advisory Board of Imperial College Business School, one of the world's leading institutions for business education. He is actively engaged in advising founders and leadership teams on growth, operations, fundraising, and international expansion.

Education

Don holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BA from UCLA.
